Homeowners

Kijenga is 100% free for homeowners. There are never any fees for consumers to search our site, contact service professionals or post their projects. Simply pay the service professional for the job.

Our matchmaking services is tailored towards larger renovation projects where multiple estimates are required to make a decision. We focus on the the following key services:

When you post a project to Kijenga our team gets alerted and one of our project managers will be in touch with you right away to finalize the project details and ensure we have all the information to pass on to our Kijenga Pros. Once we have the information we need, it’s time for us to play matchmaker.

We send your project details to home professionals that match. Our contractors are notified via email and/or text message and they are able to view your project details. If the project fits their scope of work and they are interested in connecting with you to provide a quote, they request your contact information and our system automatically sends them your name, phone number and email address.

Our mandate is to have our pros contact our homeowners within two business days of receiving the lead. They will be in touch you with you to provide an estimate. Once you have received a few estimates and you’re ready to make a decision, go ahead and hire your pro!

Don’t worry, we know remembering all your password is frustrating. If you forget your password, you can easily request a new one from the Log In window. Our system will generate a new password for you and you will be emailed the password to log in to your account. Once you’re logged in, we encourage you to go ahead and change the password to whatever you want.

Very certify and verify home professionals offering services on Kijenga. Contractors must provide us with the following documents and information.

  • Certificate of liability insurance
  • Business license
  • GST business number
  • WCB Number (if applicable)
  • Reference checks

We do the homework for you! That being said, we do recommend you request this information from any contractor you hire, to ensure everything is up-to-date and in good standing.

We sell packaged services from reputable and certified home professionals. It’s the fast and convenient way to find and hire verified house cleaners, handymen, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, landscapers as so much more. Best of all, every package on Kijenga is discounted from the regular price and you can find deals as high as 50% off. Now that’s cool!

Your best bet would be to purchase a package or two on the Kijenga Marketplace. We created the marketplace for our pros to sell their services directly to you whereas when you post your project, you are looking for multiple quotes to complete the work.

The deals on the marketplace can look a few different ways. You can find deals that offer services at a discounted hourly rate. You can also find cool products and services for your home. And you can find packaged deals where the offers are super attractive.

You can find super attractive deals on products and services from hot water heaters and NEST thermostats to lawn care packages and duct cleaning. It’s truly a win-win for everyone as right now, our model works very slick for larger projects where multiple estimates are required but that’s not necessarily the case for handymen, plumbers, electricians, painters, house cleaners, decorators, etc.

It’s a super convenient way to hire certified pros on the go and at a great price.

You pay the home professional you hired to complete the work. Pay for the services provided to you as if Kijenga wasn’t involved in the matchmaking process. We’re there to make the initial connection and ensure everyone wins at the end of the day.

We may get involved in the payment processing soon as we know it’s a pain point for both homeowner and contractor. If you have some ideas on how we can make this better, please contact us at support@kijenga.com.

Not every contractor is required to have WCB insurance. If the contractor is a sole proprietor and doesn’t have employees or contract out other services, WCB insurance is not required.

Our mandate is to have our home professionals contact the homeowner within two business days of accepting a lead. Depending on the time of the year and the demand of the market, contractors can typically schedule you in fairly soon to have a look at the work and once that is done, it varies from 24 hours to over a week to actually receive the estimates.

When you post your project on Kijenga, we are sending your project details out to all contractors that offer that service in your specific location. Contractors then have the choice to pursue the project if it fits their scope of work and their schedule. We typically see 3-4 contractors go after a project and get in touch with the homeowner for more details.

When you’re ready to make a hire, simply log into your account and go to your project. Hit the button that says “I HIRED A PRO” and from there, you will be prompted to provide us with the details. It’s the quickest and easiest way to make it happen. If you have any questions or concerns, you can get in touch directly with your project manager from Kijenga.

Kijenga did offer financing as homeowners are always looking for creative ways to complete the projects around their home. We are currently in the process of lining up a few strategic partnerships which will create a great opportunity for both contractors and homeowners.

It all depends on the type of the project. If you can’t find the service in the list provided, post it under General Contracting. Our team will take a look at it and get back to you as soon as possible.

If you live in Saskatoon or the surrounding areas, you bet. We’re only located in the bridge city right now but we have big plans to expand into other markets across Canada in the very near future.

Kijenga backs the work of our Guaranteed Professionals, so if your job is not completed in a quality manner, we will work with you and the home professional to make it right. If resolution is unsuccessful, we will find another Guaranteed Professional to work with you and we will cover the original cost of the job up to $500.

Contractors

Joining the Kijenga community as a certified pro gives you incredible bang for your buck. Outside of the $99 activation fee to verify your credentials and get your dynamic profile created, there is no monthly fee. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

You only pay us when you get hired for a project. That’s right. You only pay us out of the profit we generate for you. When we make you money, we get rewarded.

Contractors become a Kijenga Certified Pro by providing us with a copy of their liability insurance, WCB (if applicable), business license and references. We do the homework for you.

Not all contractors are required to have WCB as it depends on how your business is structured.

Yes! The beauty of our system is that you get to pick and choose which services you want to receive leads for. If we get a project posted in that category, you will instantly be notified via email and/or text message. You will be able to see the project details and if it fits your scope of work and your timeline and you want to provide an estimate, we get you the homeowners contact information so you can connect. You’re in total control of the projects you get to view and those you want to pursue on Kijenga.

You are required to log into your Kijenga account and upload your estimates when you have it ready to send to the homeowner. Simply find the project in your dashboard, hit the Upload Estimate button and select the file from you computer. Once selected and uploaded, we send a formatted email directly to your potential customer and we share your estimate in that email. Don’t worry, it’s fast and convenient and we do our best to sell you and your services.

When you have been hired for a project and the work is complete, you return back to the dashboard where you upload the final invoice. By doing so, the homeowner receives a record for their keeping and we are notified which closes the loop on our end.

You will receive your qualified leads via email and if you choose to pursue that project and provide an estimate, you will be sent another email and/or text message with the homeowners contact information.

If you ever delete an email by accident or can’t seem to find the email we sent to you, you can always log into your Kijenga account and see all projects from your dashboard.
