How do I get hired?

Here are a few simple tips to getting hired, making bank and getting hired again. (and repeat)

You can only make a first impression once. Make it count. When you receive a new project, follow up with that homeowner at your earliest convenience. Statistics show that if you can contact a homeowner within hours or receiving the lead, your chances of getting hired are 79%. I would take those odds! Remember to be courteous, professional and make them feel comfortable. Dress accordingly.

You have to make sure your customer gets to know, like and trust you. It’s how you win jobs. A key component of that is customer service. It’s simple. Return phone calls, show up on time, be flexible with your schedule, answer questions and always be courteous.

Customers are more likely to hire professionals who provide a detailed quote. Don’t send them a piece of scrap paper with numbers. Use a professional template. Your quote doesn’t have to be a final number; it can change as you learn more about the job. Tell customers exactly what the quote includes.
